Jago St. Pete needed time to herself, and as rare as it came, she was grateful for every moment she could escape the havoc of being Boss, Mother, Girlfriend… the list went on, really, but the major things were there in that ballpark. The coffee shop she was currently hiding out at, she’d found when they first came to the town, it smelled of coffee beans and pastries and somehow, even with her nausea, she never felt revolted at this place. Plus the waitresses left well enough alone as long as she wasn’t flagging them over.
Her ringed fingers clinked gently against the mug of steaming tea as she looked off into the distance. She wasn’t able to drink any caffeine anymore, sadly, so she was stuck with tea. Stupid tea. The woman had no right to be mad at it, but her spacing out focused mostly on her hatred of tea and ways she might spear her boyfriend/husband in return for knocking her up with multiples once more. That was always fun…
Somehow her mind focused back into the world once more, her pen poised above the paper with a list of names, she had one so far, that they were going to pick for one of the twins, but decided against. Finch. Other than that she had no ideas, and six children to name. This was going to be tough… at least the shop was open all night.

Ahta snarled at the bright lights of the cars speeding by her bare feet not affected by the coolness of the concrete or the broken glass littered out of the alleyways. Her eyes darted around looking for a place to sit and drink. Her nose twitched and she smelled it drifting on the light breeze. Coffee. She quickened her pace and stepped inside her eyes dilating slightly to adjust to the changing light. She looked around briefly spotting a woman drinking what smelled like tea and she arched a brow. 'Ah well to each their own she supposed. Though it did seem rather ridiculous to drink it in a Coffee shop. She blinked and looked away, pushing her hair back the green scales lining her face catching the light before they disappeared behind her green locks once more.
"Could I get a large coffee three creams three sugars" She smiled politely at the woman behind the counter it was a forced expression though and faded as soon as she turned her back. She took a seat not far from the woman she had studied before and started sipping on her coffee her eyes fixed on the window that led outside.

A frustrated sound escaped Jago, and she set down the pen, snapping her fingers so a book appeared in her hands, filled with names. Somehow she never found anything appealing in these books so it vanished as soon as she skimmed through it, picking up her tea and sipping it gently before adding more sugar to it. She hated her “condition” sometimes, and hardly noticed the stranger drinking in the same shop. The other female wasn’t her business.

Ahta noticed the book as soon as it materialized her eyes darting over before darting back to the window the frustrated noise hadn't caught her attention at first but she noted that she had indeed made it before "poofing" the book. She took another moment to glance and decided her curiosity could be sated this one time it didn't look like her target was going to show up until later. "Problems?" She asked quietly sipping at her coffee again her eyes flicking from the woman to the window.

Jago’s grey eyes lit a little, realizing that someone was speaking to her. Oh well, her private time couldn’t last very long; she didn’t like herself that much. Glancing over to the other girl, she sighed and nodded a little, “Several.” Jago sipped at her tea before flagging a waitress over to come pour her some more, inhaling the sweet smell before she added sugar again. If it didn’t look weird she would probably just be munching on sugar while she went through her frustrations.

Ahta let a ghost of a smiled play across her lips. "You seem to really like your sugar. Care to elaborate on these "several" problems? I might be able to assist you." She continued stealing glances out the window but her main focus was on the woman. "I've been known to be rather helpful at times.'

The darker tanned of the two shook her head gently, with everything she was involved in and just by her nature, she was a private kind of person. “It’s nothing, cravings.” Jago spoke softly, sipping again, “.. Just life’s issues I suppose.” It was a bit bigger than that, though, she was the leader of a hired group of hitmen… that thought didn’t make her any more comfortable bringing kids into this group of insanity.

Ahta shrugged and looked back out the window. "All right well if you do get the urge to talk about it in the next few minutes I'll listen." She was bored and her target was late, which would normally put her in a bad mood, but she was a strange one, fairly unpredictable even to herself. She drained the rest of her coffee and got more from the waitress. "My name's Ahta by the way." She added rather belatedly.

“I’m Jago,” She spoke after the other woman evenly, it wasn’t too much information at least. A hand pressed against her lower abdomen gently before bringing it back up to pick the pen back up again, doodling around on her paper until she found some more names. She swallowed another mouthful of the too-sweet green tea and gave a gentle sigh. She didn’t like telling people things, because it went too far sometimes, but Jago closed the book, “.. May I sit with you so I won’t be talking across the room?” She could focus her voice so only Ahta would hear but that was so much work, she couldn’t be wasting her energy on simple things like that when she could do something about that without the excess “gifts”.

Ahta smiled softly "Nice to meet you. And please come on over," She kicked the chair across from her away from the table. She hadn't had a proper conversation with anyone in a while and decided to indulge in a little social contact. It was only healthy after all.

Picking up her things and pushing the chair back in with her hip, Jago walked over with gliding footsteps to sit in the kicked chair, setting the objects down before seating herself. “You too.” She bit her lip and sipped the drink again, chuckling softly when she realized she had no idea how to start a conversation with a complete stranger, “… I haven’t spoken to anyone I don’t know in quite a while.. How do I do this?”

Ahta snorted softly and took a sip of her coffee thinking for a moment. "I don't have much experience in conversing with people, so I'm not sure if we'll have anything interesting to talk about...but something safe like what you do for a living maybe?"
She set her cup down and tilted her head to the side. "Or if you want you can tell me how you conjured a book from thin air that was quite interesting."

Whoever said what she did for a living was safe was a damn liar, but she answered it anyway in the most truthful way she could to a stranger she’d met in a coffee shop. “I co-own and run a local Circus as the Ringleader,” and to answer her second question, “I’m an illusionist.” Or, rather, she made others believe it was illusion because if people were meant to pull full hardbound books out of nowhere, everyone would be doing it. That’s why she was so damn good at it, because people who walked in the tent still believed that the laws of physics applied.

Ahta blinked. "You own a circus, really?" A reminiscent smile lit up her face for a moment but she blinked again and the moment passed her face going hard. "I went to a circus a long time ago." She looked back out the window a little balding man walked by and she smiled predatorily. "Illusionist is quite impressive. If you'll excuse me for a moment I'll be right back."
She left her coffee there and disappeared out the door pulling a knife from her back pocket. She poked it into the man's back and bent over whispering in his ear. "Don't move" He froze for a moment before reaching out to backhand Ahta. She sighed and grabbed the hand twisting it behind him pinning it to the small of his back before banging the handle of her knife into the back of his head. He fell unconcious and she threw him over her shoulder and went back in sitting down with Jago. She dropped the man into the empty seat next to her and smiled back at the woman. "Sorry about that." She whipped out her cell phone telling her client where she was. "I don't have quite the talent you do. But I get by being a bounty hunter."

Jago nodded a little, sipping her drink gently and not even batting an eyelash as the other woman excused herself, making a small ‘okay’ sound. Not even glancing over at the man she dropped, Jago hummed and sipped her drink again. She should’ve been surprised shouldn’t she? Oh.. Too bad, she really didn’t feel like faking it. “Doing that efficiently is a pretty good talent.” She spoke evenly, though a nagging need in the back of her brain pointed to citrus.
